A Guide to Car Insurance Policy

A Guide to Car Insurance Policy by John Hilaire

A car insurance policy can actually be quite complex, and as such it is really no wonder as to why so many people find themselves overwhelmed and confused by their auto insurance policy, and why they often end up paying much more than they actually have to. There are a few basics to car insurance policy in general that you should know about, of which will be discussed here.

Collision

This is one of the most important aspects to all car insurance policies, and basically collision has to do with when you get in an accident. So if your vehicle collides with another vehicle, rolls over, or otherwise suffers damage from impact with an object, then your auto collision insurance coverage takes effect.

Personal Injury Protection

This is the part of a auto insurance policy that has to do with medical treatment of injuries to the policyholder and the occupants of the insured vehicle. For personal injury protection you really need to take some time and give your own individual situation some careful thought, so that you can consider the overall impact that an accident involving injury could result in having on you and your loved ones. It may be unpleasant, but by doing this you will be able to make sure that you are properly protected.

Property Damage Liability

This part of a car insurance policy comes into play if and when your vehicle is involved in causing damage to someone else's property, and it will generally take care of the repair and replacement costs of everything. Not only that, but as well this property damage liability coverage also covers any damage that was caused to buildings, poles, fences, and so on.

Comprehensive

There is also the comprehensive coverage that can be included in car insurance policies, and this covers such things as earthquakes, falling objects, fire, and damage caused by animals for instance. This type of coverage also comes with a deductible, and this deductible can typically be increased in order to lower your premium, and even to satisfy the terms of a car loan.

As long as you take this and everything else that is necessary to know into consideration, then you will truly be amazed at just how much money you can save yourself. By putting time and effort into the process of finding a auto insurance policy you will be saving yourself time, money and hassle in the end of it all, so it will all be worth it.

Getting The Most For Your Money With An Auto Insurance Online Quote

Getting The Most For Your Money With An Auto Insurance Online Quote by John Hilaire

Getting an auto insurance online quote may seem intimidating at first and, it is something that is easy to put off, especially if a person already has an auto insurance provider. Sometimes it just seems easier to pay the bill when it comes due than to evaluate ones' car insurance. This method may be less-difficult in the short-term, but getting an auto insurance online quote can save a person and his or her family a significant amount of money, time and heartache in the long run.

Where to Start

When looking for an auto insurance online quote, it may be tempting to jump right on the Internet. Prior to doing this, it is important to understand your current car insurance and the coverage it provides. There are a few areas to look at, first of all take a look at your liability coverage. This will appear as certain limits listed similar too $25,000/$50,000/$25,000. There are certain minimum limits this section must meet which are determined by state law.

Secondly, a person should look at their comprehensive and collision limits. Some people opt for liability-only coverage (as listed above) however; these only cover the damage to other individuals' property. If comprehensive and collision coverage is existing in a current plan, the limits will look something like $500/$500 in the plan. Essentially the deductible listed will be the amount the insured has to pay for damages that are covered by comprehensive or collision while the insurance company pays the rest up to predetermined limits.

Next, it is important to look for certain optional coverage a plan may have. Items such as rental car reimbursement and tow coverage or roadside assistance coverage are important to note. The limits of these items should also be noted and included in any auto insurance online quote as they can make a significant difference in pricing.

Medical coverage can also make a difference in your rates; however the requirements vary from state to state so it is important to check your current policy to clarify your coverage.

What to Look For

Once a person has his or her current coverage amounts they are equipped to get an auto insurance online quote. This will allow them to be able to compare rates with their current provider, while having most or all of the variables the same, as these differences in coverage amounts can make a large difference in rates. There are many different websites that offer to quote rates from multiple providers which can be helpful and save time.

Another thing to consider when shopping for a car insurance online quote is the insurance company. It is important to not only ensure the rates are low, but also that the provider offers the level of service and amenities that are important to the insurance shopper.

Car Insurance Groups Decide The Amount Of Premium You Pay For Your Car

Car Insurance Groups Decide The Amount Of Premium You Pay For Your Car by John Hilaire

In the recent past car insurance rates have increased, especially for young drivers which have resulted in problems for new drivers whose premiums are somewhat on the high side. However, young female drivers may need to pay less because they are a lower risk proposition. So, before purchasing auto insurance it would be wise to view the car insurance groups that a particular car falls into. There may be different grouping structures and the insurance premium goes up as you move up in these groups.

Don't Be Mystified By The Different Premiums Charged

Many people that want auto insurance can often be mystified with the different policies and may have trouble understanding why the company is charging them the premium they are charging and how the type of car has an effect on such premiums.

It is thus important for you, as a car insurer to understand that you can get lower insurance premium costs by falling in a lower car insurance group and this can best be achieved by purchasing a car that falls in a lower category or group.

These auto insurance groups classify cars in a certain level of insurance and each car is assigned a group starting from one and ending at twenty. Such grouping allows each model of car to be banded with cars having similar features and a particular model of car can be spread in many groups.

There are many factors that come into play when classifying a car into a particular car insurance group, and these include the cost of repairing a car and costs of damage and parts, time required to repair the car, new car values, availability of body shells, performance of the car including acceleration and top speed, and the security features fitted as standard equipment by the manufacturers of different automobiles.

These auto insurance groups are not arrived at by individual companies, but by an association that represents car insurance companies in full. However, individual auto insurance companies may vary the groups based on their own experience. It is usual for family cars to fall into the six to twelve car insurance groups if they do not have high-powered engines. On the other hand, sports cars as also high-risk cars fall into the higher auto insurance group ratings and that would mean having to pay extra for your car insurance premium.

Among the lower auto insurance groups you would find cars such as Citroen, Toyota and Renault, and in the middle groups you can find cars such as Ford Focus, Mercedes A+ class as well as VW Polo. The higher group cars include BMW and Audi A4 while the highest group cars include Aston Martin and BMW M3 series. With these models in mind, you can get a rough idea as to which car insurance group your car falls into and when buying a new vehicle you can keep this in mind.

Collector Car Insurance Protects Valued Investment

Collector Car Insurance Protects Valued Investment by John Hilaire

Vehicles used for car shows or demonstration purposes, which are considered to antiques or collectable. They can be found low rates on collector auto insurance. Used by many people who restore older cars, many vehicles do not qualify for collector car insurance unless they are at least 20 years old and have been, or are in the process of being restored to their original condition.

Since the majority of these vehicles are only used on an occasional basis, the rates for collector auto insurance are considerably lower than that for vehicles used on a daily basis. Many companies that offer collector car insurance also have restrictions on the use of the vehicle as well as the owner. For example, in order to obtain coverage for a collector vehicle, the owner must have another regular use vehicle with insurance for daily use in the name of the collector car owner.

They may also be required to be stored in an enclosed, secure facility to qualify for collector auto insurance. The value of the insurance is determined at the time the coverage begins and most policies offer no deductibles on collector car insurance, paying the full amount of the agreed value in the event of a total loss. Most will also allow the owner of the vehicle to determine where the work will be performed if a covered incident requires professional repairs.

Seeking The Most Coverage For Your Collector Vehicle

Many people spend years restoring an older vehicle to its original, showroom condition and want to make sure it is adequately covered. Since most vehicles are kept in storage unless being taken to a show, the miles driven is usually low. Many times the vehicles are transported on a trailer and the insurance on the trailer and the hauling vehicle will be responsible for aby damages, and not the collector auto insurance.

However, when a car is on display it is a potential target for vandals and accidental damages. These types of incident are typically included in collector car insurance, and with most companies, if the collector buys another collector vehicle it is automatically covered up to a pre-determined value for a few days, until the owner and the collector auto insurance company agree to the vehicle's value.

Despite the high value of certain collector vehicles, annual premiums are exceptionally low. For example in most states, the cost to insure a 25-year-old collector car will be slight over $100 per year, which is a bargain compared to the vehicles worth.

Points To Consider When Paying Your Auto Insurance Premiums

Points To Consider When Paying Your Auto Insurance Premiums by John Hilaire

Most of us are used to spending our hard earned money on buying material assets that includes a home as well as automobiles, which gives rise to the need of protecting them by having them insured against unforeseen circumstances and acts. Auto insurance premiums are not unlike health insurance premiums and it will help you obtain compensation in case the automobile is damaged or lost.

Factors That Will Influence How Much You Pay For Your Car Insurance

You will find many auto insurance companies offering many different car insurance policies and it is quite obvious that you would prefer to take a policy that provides you with maximum benefits while demanding less auto insurance premium. How much you pay for your car insurance depends on the safety cost of repairing as well as problems relating to theft of the vehicle. These are factors that you will need to consider carefully when choosing your auto insurance policy.

The amount of car insurance premium that you will have to pay also depends on the kind of car you own, or are thinking of buying. Also, if the cost of repairing and maintaining the vehicle are high, you will end up paying higher auto insurance premium. On the other hand, if your automobile has good design, is created so that it cannot easily be stolen, and there is also less risk of damage or impairment, then your car insurance premium would be correspondingly lower.

This means that when considering a low auto insurance premium, you must choose your automobile carefully so that it has good efficiency as well as is built well, and the design makes it less troublesome to own. There is also the question of paying adequate attention to your car, which will not only lower your car insurance premium, but will also provide you pleasurable ownership of the car. You should ensure that the locks on the car are in proper order, and remember to drive the car carefully and safely while also maintaining it well.

You will also end up paying a reasonable auto insurance premium if you compare different policies of various companies and survey the market before deciding on a particular insurance company. Also, if you make none or few claims, it will help drive down your car insurance premium, while a vehicle with negative record will end up costing you more. It is thus absolutely necessary to consider the safety, damage as well as repair costs as also the possibility of theft of your car when deciding on which the best auto insurance policy for your car is.

Car Insurance Costs 'May Rise'

Car Insurance Costs 'May Rise' by Abbi Rouse

Motorists could be set to see the financial pressures that having a vehicle entails increasing over the coming months, it has been suggested.

The news comes as research carried out by Experian reveals that the impact of the floods seen over the course of this summer has had little effect on car insurance costs within the direct sector. During the third quarter of this year, from July to September, the typical quote for a comprehensive cover policy in the market stood at some 567 pounds 30p - a rise of 0.8 per cent from the 562 pounds 70p recorded during the previous three-month period.

Meanwhile, those opting for insurance from the broker sector may be set for a particular increase in financial difficulties, which as a result may see them struggling to make payments on loans, overdrafts and other forms of borrowing.

In June, comprehensive premiums stood at 495 pounds before rising to 538 pounds a month later. Meanwhile, third party, fire and theft cover surged from 570 pounds to 632 pounds during this period. Both types of insurance are said to have risen over the rest of the summer. And with the average quote for a third party, fire and theft policy within the broker market now standing at 639 pounds 70p, it is the highest figure noted since July 2005 - the time at which the firm began gathering such information.

However, it was suggested that as a result of the flooding witnessed earlier this year, the cost of car insurance could be set to rise further. This in turn may affect consumers' ability to handle the various running costs attached to a vehicle such as repairs and tax, in addition to managing other areas of their spending such as paying utility bills and personal loans.

David Murby, managing director for Experian's insurance service division, said: "For nearly two years, comprehensive motor insurance premiums in the direct market have been higher than in the broker market". However, the recent increase in broker prices means the gap between the two markets is closing and broker prices have almost reached the level they were at two years ago, before they started dropping.

"The true impact of the floods is likely to manifest itself in insurance premiums over the next few months in the direct market once claims have been settled and insurers have been able to assess the real impact. The broker market is likely to follow suit." Mr Murby added that the recent rise noted in broker insurance costs is unlikely to have been due to the impact of the floods, as the sector often tends to "react slower" to such events than the direct market.

Consequently, those people concerned at their capacity to keep with rising expenses for running a car may wish to consider taking out a low-rate personal loan. In addition, opting for such a method of borrowing could be advisable for consumers looking to purchase an automobile as it is often a much more competitive choice than selecting a forecourt finance deal. Earlier this year, research released by Halifax showed that the average household spent some 1,509 pounds on vehicles last year - accounting for 4.4 per cent of their disposable income. Overall, the financial services firm also reported that financing a car purchase is the second most popular reason for consumers to apply for a personal loan.

Rise Recorded In Home And Motor Insurance Costs

Rise Recorded In Home And Motor Insurance Costs by Abbi Rouse

Homeowners and motorists alike may be due to come under more difficulty in handling their money, it has been suggested.

The news comes as research carried out by the AA in its latest British Insurance Premium Index has shown a rise in both home and car insurance costs over recent months - an increase partially attributed to the flooding seen across the country during the summer.

According to the firm, the typical home buildings insurance policy surged by some three per cent during the third quarter of 2007 (between July and September) up to 215 pounds 51p. This compares with a decrease of 1.89 per cent recorded during the second quarter of this year, where average cover stood at 209 pounds 23p. Overall, premiums have surged by 3.13 per cent from the same time in 2006 - a rise which could well put pressure on consumers' capacity to make payments on other demands on their finances such as utility bills and loans.

The cost of home contents insurance cover has also witnessed growth over the last quarter, as the typical quote is now valued at 149 pounds 99p - a rise of 2.29 per cent. Meanwhile, a year-on-year rise of 1.64 per cent was posted.

However, drivers too could be set for further hardship in making loan repayments, as they have seen a notable increase in car insurance costs. As over the last 12 months, third party, fire and theft cover has surged by 4.43 per cent. Meanwhile, the average policy has surged by 3.57 per cent during the third quarter to stand at a record 1,042 pounds 41p. This compares to growth of 1.32 per cent to 1,006 pounds 44p over the course of the previous three-month period.

Comprehensive cover also increased during the last quarter, though at a lower rate than third party, fire and theft. Between July and September such insurance was up by 1.35 per cent. During the course of the last year, however, the premium has risen by some 7.96 per cent.

Commenting on the figures, John Close, insurance relations director for the company, said: "The latest rises are in line with expectation. Car insurance premiums have followed an upward trend since the second quarter of 2006. The cost to the industry of personal injury claims and legal costs has been escalating rapidly while accident damage costs has also risen faster than premiums. In addition, recent flood claims have cost insurers an estimated 100 million pounds."

As a result, those worried that rising insurance costs may pressure their ability to meet demands on other areas of their spending may wish to consider applying for a low-rate personal loan. And such a method of borrowing could also be advisable for those considering the purchase of a new car.

Following the launch of the new 57 registration plate last month, Halifax reported that September is often a prime time to apply for a loan so as to buy a new motor vehicle. However, Neil Chandler, head of the financial provider's unsecured personal loans division, advised consumers to take the time to search for the most competitively-priced finance deal available.

The Importance Of Insurance For Young Adults

The Importance Of Insurance For Young Adults by Lee MacRae

Chances are, if you're a young person or perhaps even a young couple, one aspect of life you've probably never really given consideration to is insurance. Other then car insurance when someone turns 16, insurance is one of those things you rarely hear discussed in a family conversation. The subject of insurance is usually not something taught in school [unless you are taking a driving class] and it is never a topic of conversation among young adults at the local watering hole. Yet insurance is a valuable commodity to understand and purchase when you're first starting out in life.

If you move away from home and start living in an apartment, you've probably never given any thought to ensuring all of the valuable possession you begin to accumulate. Most young people never think about insurance that will cover some kind of loss resulting from a fire or you break in, for example. And few people ever start thinking about life insurance when their life is only just beginning.

But these all are the kinds of things you need to think about. If you're a young husband, are you going to leave your wife without anything if something serious should happen to you? If you're paralyzed in an accident, will your wife be required to work two jobs the rest of her life just to take care of you? That is something that really has happened to young couples. If you die suddenly, will your wife and young child have enough money to carry on without you? Will your children be unable to attend college because you're no longer there? These are all very serious questions you need to consider.

For most young people, unless you are fortunate enough to be employed by a company that has a full a insurance plan, including health, dental, accident benefits or long-term disability, you need to take a look at what you can do on your own. Approach it like you did to your school work or university classes. Take the time to educate yourself on the various options and types of insurance that are available on the market today. The more educated you become in relationship to insurance, the more likely you are to spend your money wisely and get exactly [and only exactly] what you need to protect your future and the future of your family. Break your insurance needs down into the various categories: auto insurance, home insurance, dental insurance, health insurance and life insurance. Each of these will fill an important need in your life and you need to make sure you are adequately covered in all areas. Even if you don't have a lot of money to spend on this, don't neglect it completely.

No doubt, insurance is not one of those fun topics you want to discuss or even think about. No one ever wants to think something bad will happen to them. But you can't simply ignore it; you need to address it in order to protect your assets, your health and your future. Believe me when I say that the very first time you need to use your insurance, you'll be very happy you have it.

Optional Auto Insurance Coverage

Optional Auto Insurance Coverage by Christian Rios

There are a many forms of automobile insurance outside of typical, state mandated liability coverage: Medical Payments Insurance, Personal Injury Protection (referred to as "PIP" - covers a broader area, such as lost wages, funeral expenses, and pain and suffering), Collision, Comprehensive, Gap Insurance, Uninsured and Under Insured Motorist.

Medical Payments Insurance - This type of insurance coverage pays for medical bills (for you or anyone else) up to a certain amount arising from the use of your vehicle regardless of fault. Theoretically, because it pays regardless of fault, the insurance would cover your medical expenses if you were to crash your car into a fencepost. This type of insurance is usually sold in increments of $1,000 to $5,000. The coverage extends to your immediate family members (who reside in your household) while they are passengers in another person's car, and would cover medical expenses regardless of the other driver's own insurance policy. Medical Payments Insurance is also referred to as "MedPay".

Personal Injury Protection - "PIP" insurance covers the "named insured" along with members of his or her household who are related by blood, marriage, adoption, and/or foster and step children. PIP covers medical expenses for injuries sustained in an auto accident up to three years after the date of the incident. In addition to medical expenses, PIP can also cover lost wages, funeral expenses, and loss of services (payment to others for work you can't do). Similar to MedPay, Personal Injury Protection will cover your medical expenses regardless of driver fault.

Collision - This optional form of insurance pays for damage to your car in an auto accident even if you're the at fault driver (such as crashing your car into a tree or a telephone pole). Collision insurance would also cover repairs to your car when you are involved in an accident and the other driver does not have liability coverage. Although collision does cover repairs to your car regardless of the situation, there are limits to the amount of repairs: your insurance company is only required to pay the difference between the salvage value of your car and the pre-accident cash value of your car. Let's say your car is worth $10,000 and the salvage value is $1,000. In this example, your insurance company is only required to pay up to $9,000 in repairs, regardless of what you think the value of your car is. Collision insurance does have an optional "replacement cost coverage" for new or vintage cars. This additional coverage provides for the replacement cost of the new or vintage car. Although not required by any state, lenders and leasing companies will typically require clients to carry Collision Insurance.

Comprehensive - This type of insurance is very similar to Collision Insurance; the major differing factor is that Comprehensive covers damage to your vehicle by an "unknown entity" or "an act of God". In addition to an auto accident, areas of coverage include the following: vandalism, hurricane, flood, theft, and fire. Your insurance company is only required to pay up to the fair market value of your car minus your policy's deductible. Although not required by any state, lenders and leasing companies will typically require their clients to carry Collision Insurance.

Gap Insurance - This insurance pays for the difference between what one owes on a vehicle, and what the insurance company claims your car is worth. For example: you owe $15,000 on a car and you somehow manage to total the car in an accident. Your insurance company determines your car is only worth $13,000, so that is all they will pay. You're now stuck paying off a $2,000 loan for a car that no longer exists. Gap insurance would normally cover that $2,000 difference. There are some limitations and restrictions for Gap Insurance. For example: Gap Insurance is typically unavailable on older cars and not all insurance companies will offer it. It's best to check with your insurance company to get the full details on Gap Insurance coverage.

Uninsured and Under Insured Motorist - Just like the title states, this type of insurance covers you and your vehicle in case the other driver is not properly insured and he or she is determined to be at fault. Not all states require this type of insurance, but a handful do. It's recommended that you purchase this coverage because if you are involved in a fender-bender with an uninsured motorist, it is highly unlikely you will receive any payment for damages to you or your vehicle if the other driver is at fault and uninsured or under insured. UM/UIM is generally affordable and can be purchased in varying amounts of coverage.

Liability Auto Insurance

Liability Auto Insurance by Christian Rios

Auto insurance is a contractual agreement between you and your insurance company. To acquire an insurance policy, you must pay an what is called a yearly "premium" to your insurance company. In exchange for the premium, the insurance company agrees to pay for certain types of financial losses when you are involved in an auto accident while driving your car. These financial losses include items such as property damage, medical coverage, and legal fees.

Driving without auto insurance is not only risky; it is against the law. If you are caught driving without auto insurance, you may have your license suspended, face severe fines, or - in the case of an auto accident, you can potentially go to jail if your car is not properly insured at the time of the accident. Car insurance is a necessary evil, and although we may get frustrated with having to pay for it, the fact is we need it. Auto insurance is a "cost of driving" that simply cannot be avoided.

The absolute minimum auto insurance coverage you are required to carry varies from state to state. This minimum coverage is generally referred to as "liability insurance". This insurance covers bodily injury and property damage.

When quoting or discussing liability insurance, there are three numbers that are used to describe the policy limits. The first number refers to bodily injury limits, the second refers to total medical liability coverage, and the third number refers to property damage limits. For example, a 15/50/20 liability policy is defined as: fifteen thousand for personal medical liability per person, fifty thousand maximum medical liability coverage, and twenty thousand maximum property damage liability.

Bodily Injury Liability covers injuries that occur to you or any other person involved in an accident when it has been determined that you are the "at fault" driver. Typically, this also covers you while you are driving another person's car (with their permission of course) or when someone else is driving your car (with your permission).

Property Damage Liability covers the cost of damage you cause (or a person driving your car with your permission) to someone else's property in an accident when it has been determined that you are the "at fault" driver. This refers to damage caused directly to someone else's car and also covers damage to city property (light posts, telephone poles, fences, etc) and other structures such as houses, apartment buildings, etc.

The minimum liability limits set by your state are low. It is highly recommended that you purchase a liability limit that is much higher than the state minimum in case a third party sues you for amounts above and beyond your insurance policy's maximum coverage. Although purchasing your state's minimum liability insurance allows you to legally register and operate your car, it is recommended that you acquire at least five times the minimum liability limits set by your state. This helps protect your assets such as your personal savings, your home equity, your personal property, etc. Depending on your total assets, you may wish to purchase even higher liability limits. You should check with a licensed insurance agent to determine the proper liability limits for your insurance policy. He or she can help you determine limits based on your assets and lifestyle.

Liability insurance can be costly for young drivers or for drivers with a poor driving record (accidents, speeding tickets, etc.) When acquiring insurance for a teenage driver or for someone with a poor driving record, you should check with your state's Department of Insurance. They might have programs to help drivers purchase liability insurance at a discounted rate. For example, at the time of this writing, the State of California's Department of Insurance has a low-income, liability insurance program that can be purchased for approximately $400 per year.

How to Save Money on Auto Insurance

How to Save Money on Auto Insurance by Christian Rios

The cost of your car insurance premium is dependent on many factors. Some of these are within your control (your credit history and the type of car you drive), and some are not (such as your age and where you live). If you follow the guidelines in this article, you can keep your insurances premium as low as possible.

Shop Around You should get multiple quotes before you agree to any insurance contract. Get direct quotes from the major companies and their agents. You should also get a few quotes from online sources and possibly even talk to independent insurance agents who represent multiple companies. With a sampling of insurance quotes, you will have an idea of what you can expect your insurance premium to cost. But don't decide based on price alone. You should research each of the companies you are considering. Find out such things as: do they have a local office near you, what is their process for filing a claim, do they have a reputation for strong customer service or are they known for being hard to work with, and are there a significant number of complaints with the state insurance department. In addition to performing your own research, you can contact independent rating companies such as A.M. Best, Fitch, Standard & Poor, Weiss, and Moody's. These companies rate the financial strength of insurance companies. You can find their respective websites by performing an online search.

The company with the lowest rate most likely won't be the company with the best service or the most hassle-free method for filing a claim. It's up to you to determine what is most important when purchasing your auto insurance.

When purchasing a new car, compare insurance premiums before you buy. The difference between insurance premiums can drastically vary from car to car. So, before you get your heart set on a particular brand and model, you should compare insurance costs on several cars that are similar to the one you want. You might find the car you are in love with carries a substantially higher insurance premium than another model.

Higher deductibles The higher the deductible you choose for each form of insurance, the less that particular premium will cost you for the year.

Use the same insurance company for all your insurance needs Insurance companies will give discounts if you purchase multiple forms of insurance from them such as Life Insurance, Auto Insurance, and Home Insurance.

Low-mileage discounts Most insurance companies offer discounts for motorists who drive less than the average number of miles on a yearly basis. This is especially true for antique or collectible car policies, which usually have insurance programs designed specifically for low-mileage use.

Unless it's an antique, don't purchase comprehensive or collision If you drive an older car and its cash value is low, it might be a good idea to avoid the comp and collision policies altogether. Unless the value of the car justifies paying for the high premiums, it's much more economical to simply forego those particular insurance options.

Safe driver discounts There are insurance companies who specialize in providing discount policies for safe drivers. If you have an impeccable driving record, you should seek out those insurance companies who reward good drivers.

Inquire about discounts Some discounts are not always advertised and the only way you will find out about them is to ask. Some of those discounts include: student drivers with excellent grades, anti-lock brake systems, low annual mileage, drivers who are 50+ years of age, no accidents in 3 years, no moving violations in 3 years, higher deductibles, multiple car discount, daytime running lights, anti-theft device. This list is by no means complete. You should ask your insurance specialist if there are any discounts that may apply to you.
